This year’s Dhiraagu Apprenticeship Program’s graduation ceremony was held on Wednesday.
Vice President Faisal Naseem was the chief guest of the ceremony which also saw attendances from Education Minister Aishath Ali, Higher Education Minister Ibrahim Hassan and the Special Advisor on Social Policy at the President’s Office Musthafa Latheef.
During the ceremony, 15 apprentices that completed the program this year were awarded certificates. Apart from this, 15 apprentices enrolled in this year’s intake of the program were welcomed.
Speaking at the ceremony, VP Faisal congratulated all graduates of the program. He expressed his appreciation and thanked Dhiraagu for introducing the apprenticeship program to the Maldives which has inspired other corporates to follow the same model and develop a skilled workforce. He also emphasized the importance of developing talents that are needed for the nation’s resilience and development.
Dhiraagu’s CEO, MD Ismail Rasheed who also spoke at ceremony congratulated all graduates of the program as well, and conveyed his best wishes to the new batch of apprentices. He also expressed his delight to see many past graduates of the program establish successful careers in Dhiraagu and across Maldives, signifying how the program continues to be a stepping stone to their career development and success.
Ismail Rasheed also emphasized the importance Dhiraagu places on developing young people.
Dhiraagu’s apprenticeship program introduced in 2009 has seen the enrollment of 247 youths to date. The program is also the first corporate apprenticeship program introduced in the Maldives.
In the course of the structured training program, apprentices are provided soft skills development training, with the opportunity to work in multiple core business areas of Dhiraagu. It helps to provide the apprentices a key pathway towards a successful career. Apprentices can work in Male' and across various Dhiraagu Regional Operations Centers across the nation.
