MTCC awarded MVR 231M project to build Magoodhoo airport

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been awarded an MVR 231 million project to develop airport infrastructure in F. Magoodhoo.

The contract was signed by Planning Ministry’s Director General Fathimath Shana Farooq and MTCC’s CEO Adam Azim in a ceremony at the Planning Ministry headquarters in Male’ City on Wednesday.

The project involves building a 1,500-meter-long and 30-meter-wide runway, a passenger terminal, a control tower, a fire station, and installation of security equipment, supply and installation of navigational equipment, installation of MET equipment, and supply and installation of ground handling equipment.

MTCC is required to complete the project in 550 days.

The signing of the contract was witnesses by Biledhdhoo MP Adam Haleem (Dhonbileh), who told Sun he has high hopes the project will be beneficial to the people of the region.

“All islands in the atoll want an airport within a 15-minute distance. This is also the government’s vision. Therefore, this will bring great happiness and ease to the people,” he said.

 Dhonbileh said he was pleased the project was awarded to MTCC.

He said MTCC has a track record for delivering quality services and finishing projects in a timely manner, and is confident the Magoodhoo airport project will be done in a similar manner.
