State Trading Organization (STO), in collaboration with GE Healthcare, has commenced a radiography course it is conducting at its own expense.
94 students had applied for the Diploma in Radiography. 25 students were selected for the first batch.
The course is being conducted on the fourth floor of STO Trade Center.
STO is covering the tuition, and providing monthly pocket money of MVR 2,300 for the students enrolled in the course.
The duration of the course is two years and six months.
In the last six months, the students will intern at Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), ADK Hospital, Senahiya Hospital, Tree Top Hospital and Hulhumale’ Hospital.
The course is accredited by Maldives Qualification Authority (MQA). Students who complete the course will be registered as radiographers with Maldives Allied Health Council.
Radiography is used to diagnose or treat patients by recording images of the internal structure of the body to assess the presence or absence of disease, foreign objects, and structural damage or anomaly.
STO states it hopes to create more local radiographers through the course.
