Police advice public to be vigilant amid uptick in scam messages

Police have advised the public against clicking links in scam messages sent in the name of various institutions, including the police themselves.

In a tweet on Tuesday, police said they had received multiple reports of scam messages in various institutions.

Police said they were looking into it, and urged the public against clicking the links in the messages.

Through the links, scammers steal private information of victims, that are used for fraudulent financial transactions.

Police said they had received reports of such scam messages being sent in the name of police themselves.

Police asked people to reports such crimes via the police crime reporting portal or by calling the hotline 3322111.
