President assures Feeali reclamation project will commence soon

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. on Thursday, has assured that the land reclamation project at F. Feeali will commence soon.

The assurance was provided to Feeali Council and Feeali Women’s Development Committee (WDC) during a meeting held at the President’s Office on Thursday afternoon.

At this meeting, Feeali Council briefed President Solih on the most pertinent needs of the islands’ residents – one of it being the expedition of the land reclamation project.

Other needs highlighted by the Council included work to develop a healthcare centre and a volleyball court, need for a multipurpose hall and expediting the development of a science laboratory in the school; designating a picnic island; and developing a jetty for fishing vessels to procure ice, which would ease congestion in the harbor.

They also shared the challenges faced due to space constraints in the mosque, establishing a police post, and challenges for the healthcare centre in procuring pharmaceutical equipment.

Meawhile, Feeali WDC members briefed the president on challenges they face in discharging their duties, including financial constraints and a lack of adequate resources and facilities.

After hearing their concerns – President Solih underscored the importance of such meetings to inquire about the needs of the island’s residents and accommodate their requests.

He then gave assurance that the land reclamation project would commence soon, and affirmed his administration would find ways to address the concerns raised at the meeting. 

At the meeting, Feeali Council and WDC underscored the significant developmental progress made on the island under the administration and extended their gratitude.
