Bank of Maldives (BML) has renewed its partnership with Corporate Maldives, signing as Platinum Partner for the upcoming Gold 100 Business Awards.

The Gold 100 Business Awards is an annual listing of leading companies in Maldives.

BML, in a statement announcing the renewal of the partnership on Wednesday, said the bank was commitment to supporting the growth of Maldivian businesses.

Noting that Maldives was one of the hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, BML said it took several measures to support the local economy, early on.

The bank noted it announced short-term financing for the tourism sector, introduced a moratorium for loans and financing, and supported the government with the implementation of its COVID-19 recovery scheme.

BML said it also worked together with the government to secure funding from international financial agencies to support Maldives’ sustainable recovery efforts.

The bank said it lent over MVR 3 billion in loans to support the local economy last year.

BML was recognized as one of the top 100 companies in Maldives in the Gold 100 Gala function held Tuesday evening at Crossroads Maldives.

The bank has partnered with Corporate Maldives to present the Gold 100 Business Awards since its inception in 2017.
