COVID-19: Daily caseload exceeds 300, 182 from atolls

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced 319 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in the Maldives to 27,403.

According to HPA, the new cases include; 108 cases from the greater Male’ region, 182 cases from residential islands outside Male’, 21 cases from operational resorts, eight cases from industrial islands.

Meanwhile, 51 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 24,116.

With the new developments, Maldives now has 3,207 active cases.

There are 98 patients in hospitals.

3,094 samples (including repeated samples) have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours.

71 COVID-19 patients have died from complications.

Vaccination update

Maldives commenced vaccinations against COVID-19 on February 1. According to HPA, 429 people in the Greater Male' Area had received their first dose of the vaccine against COVID-19 on April 22. 1,303 had received their first dose of the vaccine from other residential islands. 

HPA statistics show that 4,096 people had received their second dose from the Male' area yesterday while 3,120 had received their second dose from other atolls. 

1,732 people in total had received their first dose on April 22, while 7,216 had received their second dose in total on the same date. 

Since commencing the national campaign 288,903 people had received their first dose of the vaccine while 69,802 had received their second dose.
