COVID-19: 147 new cases, 65 from Male' City

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced 147 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in the Maldives to 23,671.

According to HPA, the new cases include; 65 cases from the greater Male’ region, 69 cases from residential islands outside Male’, 10 cases from operational resorts, 1 case from an island under development, and 2 cases from industrial islands.

Meanwhile, 116 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 20,839.

With the new developments, Maldives now has 2,759 active cases.

There are 93 patients in hospitals.

3,472 samples (including repeated samples) have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours.

66 COVID-19 patients have died from complications.

VACCINE DRIVE

HPA stated 1,700 people were vaccinated in the last 24 hours. 651 were from the greater Male’ region, and 1,049 were from other atolls.

Total 233,875 people have now been inoculated under the program; 129,720 from the greater Male’ region, and 104,144 from other atolls.
