COVID-19: 3 cases detected from Naifaru boat, traveled to multiple islands

Leynaaru boat. Three cases of COVID-19 have been detected from the boat which traveled to multiple islands.

A number of COVID-19 cases have been identified among people on a boat in Lh. Naifaru, which had traveled to many islands. 

The boat and its crew members have now been quarantined in Naifaru. Lh. Atoll Hospital manager Jaufaru Abdulla confirmed the news and said that the boat is named "Leynaaru".

Three cases have been tested positive from the boat, according to Jaufaru who added that the boat had traveled to multiple islands. 

The islands are:

  • Lh. Felivaru
  • HA. Ihavandhoo
  • HA. Hoarafushi
  • HA. Uligan
  • HA. Neykurendhoo
  • N. Velidhoo

Jaufaru said that the authorities on the islands have now been informed of the situation regarding the boat. 

Naifaru today confirmed 17 more cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of cases on the island to 31. 

The first case identified on the island is an individual who traveled to the island of R. Ungoofaaru.
