COVID-19: Maldives confirms 18 new infections

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced 18 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in the Maldives to 13,326.

With the new cases, Maldives has a total of 631 active cases. 

According to HPA, 16 of the new cases were confirmed from the greater Male’ region. A single case was reported from inhabited islands, while another case was also confirmed from an island under development.

Meanwhile, 19 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 12,640.

There are a total of 60 patients in the hospital. 

HPA specified that 2,358 samples were collected for the virus in the last 24 hours.

Health officials have so far collected 263,107 samples for the virus.

47 COVID-19 patients have died from complications.
