The flag carrier of Seychelles, Air Seychelles has launched operations to Maldives.
The first flight arrived at the Velana International Airport (VIA) in Male’ on Saturday afternoon carrying 30 passengers.
The operations by Air Seychelles were launched for the winter season, and will connect Male’ and Johannesburg in South Africa, with a layover in Seychelles, through a weekly flight on Saturdays until January 9.

Air Seychelles require their passengers to have a proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken maximum 72 hours before departure.
International airlines currently operating to Maldives include Qatar Airways, Turkish Air, Emirates, Etihad, flydubai, Aeroflot, Edelweiss, Air India, GoAir, IndiGo, SpiceJet, SriLankan, Lufthansa, British Airways, Silk Air and Azur Air.
The flag carrier of Kazakhstan, Air Astana also launched operations to Maldives this Saturday.
Maldives is currently open to all tourists, provided they have proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken maximum 96 hours before departure from their original destination.
Tourism Ministry has stated it expects to reach the tourism arrival target of 500,000 visitors by December 25.
