COVID-19: Maldives records 27 new cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA), has announced 27 additional cases of the new coronavirus, increasing confirmed coronavirus cases in the Maldives to 11,643.

1,776 samples have been tested for the new coronavirus over the last 24 hours. With the new developments, Maldives now has 820 active cases.

According to HPA, the new cases today include 16 locals and 11 foreigners.

18 of the cases were identified from the greater Male’ region, while the remaining nine cases were identified from other atolls.

Meanwhile, 46 additional coronavirus patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 10,779.

There are 259 patients in isolation facilities and 54 in hospitals.

  • October 24: 30 cases

37 coronavirus patients have died from complications. There are active cases in 20 inhabited islands as well as 26 resorts. Positive cases confirmed from resorts include 37 tourists and 82 staff.
