Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Thursday, announced 33 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed COVID-19 cases in Maldives to 11,391
According to HPA, the new cases include 20 locals and 13 foreigners.
24 of the cases were identified from the greater Male’ region, while the remaining nine cases were identified from the atolls.
Meanwhile, 45 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 10,428.
With the new developments, Maldives now has 919 active cases.
There are 329 patients in isolation facilities and 38 in hospitals.
1,570 samples have been tested for the new COVID-19 over the last 24 hours.
The Maldives identified its first COVID-19 case on March 7, and declared a state of public health emergency over the pandemic less than a week later on March 12.
37 COVID-19 patients have died from complications.
There are active COVID-19 cases in 21 residential islands outside of the greater Male’ area.
There are also active cases in 23 resorts, including 22 tourists and 34 staff.
