The government is set to announce new stricter measures to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the country in light of an increase in case numbers.
A press conference is scheduled at the Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) today at 16:00 for the purpose. The presser will be held by HEOC spokesperson Dr. Nazla Rafeeq and Ibrahim Nishan from the HPA.
The case numbers of the Maldives have exceeded over 4,000. Within the last 24 hours, 129 individuals have tested positive for COVID-19, while on the previous day, 215 tested positive. Active cases in the country is at a total of 1,490 while 93 people are receiving treatment at hospitals.
A total of 19 people have passed away due to the virus, and cases have also popped up in several islands across the nation.
