COVID-19 samples from Manadhoo test negative

Samples taken in N. Manadhoo regarding contact with a positive case of COVID-19 has tested negative, N. Atoll Hospital has stated.

The individuals were isolated after coming into contact with an 80-year old woman who tested positive for COVID-19. The woman was tested positive after she was transferred to Male’ City regarding other health complications.

N. Atoll Hospital Manager Ismail Shafeeu stated that six samples collected from the island had all tested negative. This included two employees of the hospital and four members of the public.

Shafeeu stated that the 80-year old woman was not exhibiting any symptoms of the virus when she consulted with the Hospital. She only tested positive after being transferred to Male’.

The woman was tested for COVID-19 as part of IGMH’s new protocol for all hospitalized patients in light of the community spread in Male’. She is being treated in the DH11 facility of Dharumavantha Hospital. Doctors say that she is doing well.
