Police have arrested two people for traveling to H.Dh. Kulhudhuffushi after an order restricting the movement of people from one island to another was declared in the Maldives as a measure against the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

The two men had obtained a canoe without the permission of the owner before heading out from H. Dh. Nolhivaranfaru on April 19. The men had swum to Kulhudhuffushi claiming that the canoe had capsized.

Police are now investigating the matter and stated that the two were unharmed. A 23-year-old and a 30-year-old was arrested by the Police in the matter.

The government had ordered a temporary ban on non-essential travel between islands across the country.
