Maldivian from Uligan tests positive for Covid-19

A Maldivian national in the northern island of H.A Uligan has tested positive for the Covid-19 virus.

The individual is the same individual that tested positive from screening tests earlier today. The individual had exhibited symptoms before being tested for the virus today.

The screening tests had shown that the individual was positive for the virus. Confirmation tests on the individual were then commenced, the results of which were just now announced by the authorities as positive.

The individual is now being moved to an isolation facility. This is the 52nd case of the virus in the Maldives and the first confirmed case in an inhabited island other than the capital in the Maldives.
