The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has instructed to formulate policies on how to conduct court procedures in a bid to continue the work of the judiciary during the declared public health emergency.
Currently, courts in the country are closed, however, remand hearings are still continued. The JSC decided to instruct courts to form a policy on how to conduct procedures related to appeal cases and the work of the superior courts in the country.
The commission also decided to instruct the Department of Judicial Administration on a policy for magistrate courts after discussions with magistrates. The JSC also instructed the DJA to ensure the safety of employees and judges during the court procedures.
The JSC’s decision comes shortly after the Supreme Court formed a regulation on holding trials via video conferences during the declared public health emergency.
