Covid-19: New conditions announced for departure of resort employees

The Director-General of Public Health Maimoona Aboobakuru has announced new conditions under which a resort employee or an employee of a safari can depart or disembark from the resort or safari.

Previously employees can depart after completing a 14-day quarantine period after the departure of all tourists from the resort or safari.

The new measures taken against the spread of the Covid-19 virus in the Maldives now state that employees can depart if they had completed a 14-day quarantine period in a designated area of the resort even if guests were present at the resort. under the condition, employees can only depart after going through executive screening and testing negative for the virus.

Employees can also depart after completing a 14-day quarantine period after the departure of all tourists from the resort or safari, provided that the resort was not placed under monitoring mechanisms. The employee must be permitted to depart the resort in addition to providing information required by the HPA to do so under this condition.

If the resort was placed under monitoring mechanisms, employees can only depart after completing a quarantine period in a designated area of the resort. Employees can only leave after obtaining permission to do so under this condition. They cannot depart even after the 14-day quarantine period upon the departure of the last guests, according to the announcement.

Special conditions set out by the Director-General can still allow employees to leave the resort despite the above requirements.

Many resorts in the country have temporarily suspended their operations and concerns by employees who are stuck on the resort due to these measures have also been mounting.

The Maldives has confirmed 17 cases of the pandemic virus. 11 of these cases were confirmed from four resorts. Two came from a safari. Many resorts were also placed under monitoring mechanisms due to suspected cases. 13 of the confirmed cases have now made full recoveries. They are all foreigners Currently the authorities are only treating two local positive cases. Two other positive cases had departed from the Maldives after completing their quarantine periods. Their test results were received after they had already departed from the country.
