IGMH has stated that visitors to the hospital will be questioned regarding their travel history and fever. The hospital also advised visitors to answer these questions with complete honesty.
The measure was undertaken as a safety precaution against Covid-19 in the Maldives.
IGMH has also changed how its entrances are used. The hospital can now be entered through three gates, one in Boduthakurufaanu Magu, one in Kanbaa Aisa Rani Hingun and the entrance through the Dharumavantha complex.
Dr. Moosa Muraad, speaking at a news conference today, stated that the amount people visiting the hospital was being controlled and a team would be working near the entrances to question people regarding their travel history and fever conditions.
“Those entering will be questioned. When questioned, we advise people to cooperate and answer the questions truthfully.” Advised Dr. Muraad.
He also stated that complaints from people with long term illnesses were being received due to the authorities advising people not to visit hospitals unless there was a necessary reason.
He added that most of the time people who were being treated for long-term illnesses in the country were suffering from conditions and diseases such as diabetes, cholesterol and blood pressure.
Dr. Muraad added that if the most recent test results did not show a bad result it was not mandatory for tests to be conducted in the next three months or so.
