Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has confirmed that the 14-year-old boy who sustained serious injuries in an electrocution incident during Eid preparations in L. Gan remains in critical condition and is receiving treatment on a ventilator in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
The incident occurred on Tuesday night while the community was preparing for Eid celebrations. According to reports, the boy was electrocuted while attempting to connect an extension board to a roadside distribution box to draw power.
A media official from IGMH confirmed to Sun that the boy remains in critical condition and is receiving treatment on ventilator support in ICU.
"The boy brought from L. Gan following an electrocution is being treated in the ICU on ventilator support," the official said.
Although the hospital has not officially disclosed specific details regarding the injuries, it is understood that the child suffered extensive burns across a significant portion of his body.
The victim was initially provided emergency medical treatment at L. Gan Regional Hospital. However, after his condition worsened, he was placed on a ventilator and medically evacuated to Malé on Wednesday afternoon for further treatment.
