Ministry preparing for online classes due to school closure

The education ministry has begun making arrangements to teach students through online platforms after schools across the country were closed due to the confirmed cases of Covid-19 disease in the country.

The ministry is working to ensure that education in the country continues despite the closure of schools. The government has declared a public health emergency following the confirmed cases.

“Tele Class” programs via Yes TV were commenced today as part of the efforts. Education Minister Aishath Ali, speaking at a news conference today informed that the classes would cover all subjects.

Tele classes would be shown from 8:00 to 14:00 every day and timetables for the day would be shared via the Twitter, Facebook accounts of the Ministry as well as schools. Interactive sessions for students to clarify information will also be held from 13:00 to 14:00. The interactive sessions will be conducted via phone calls.
