Statistics show state expenditure higher than income

Statistics published by the Finance Ministry have shown that the government expenditure in the last week was higher than the income.

According to the statistics, the state earned MVR 3.4 billion, while it spent MVR 3.9 billion in the eighth week of 2020.

This is a reduction of MVR 782.2 million when compared with the figures for the same period last year.

The government earned MVR 1.2 billion as GST, MVR 125 million as airport service charges. Statistics also show that the state earned MVR 126 million as airport development fees.

A total of MVR 22.6 million was spent on travel during this period, which is a reduction from MVR 2.9 million spent on travel for the same period last year.

MVR 99 million was spent on the healthcare scheme Aasandha, while MVR 764.7 was spent on PSIP projects, during this period.
