Health Ministry decentralizes, hands over 20 projects to local councils

Health Ministry, on Sunday, handed over 20 Public Service Investment Program (PSIP) projects to the local councils of 20 islands, under the recent amendment to Decentralization Act which grants local councils administrative and financial autonomy.

The contracts between Health Ministry and respective local councils were signed in a ceremony held at the Health Ministry headquarters on Sunday morning.

The recent amendment to Decentralization Act grants local councils the authority to run projects valued under MVR 5 million.

Health Ministry’s PSIP projects were handed over to the local councils of:

  • H. Dh. Finey
  • N. Kendhikulhudhoo
  • R. Hulhudhuffaaru

  • A. Dh. Dhigurah
  • A. Dh. Dhangethi
  • M. Mulah
  • L. Maamendhoo
  • G. A. Maamendhoo
  • G. A. Dhevvadhoo
  • G. A. Nilandhoo
  • G. Dh. Fiyoaree
  • G. Dh. Madaveli
  • S. Hulhudhoo

The projects include construction of extensions to health centers, outer walls of health centers, and finishing work.
