MNDF assisted a Sri Lankan fishing boat stranded at sea after engine trouble.
The fishing boat was drifting east of Dhiffushi when reports of a boat in distress were received by the authorities. MNDF information officer Maj. Ibrahim Azim stated that the information that a fishing boat was drifting around 199 nautical miles east of Male’ city was received around 17:00 yesterday.
Maj. Azim stated that the coastguard’s Izzudhdheen vessel was dispatched and would reach the location around 21:30 last night. The condition of everyone on the fishing boat was also well, according to Maj. Azim.
