Foreign Minister Shahid meets with Chinese Vice President

Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid has met with the Vice President of China, His Excellency Wang Qishan.

Minister Shahid met with the Vice President during a meeting in Ziguang Pavilion this morning in Beijing.

Vice President Wang and Minister Shahid discussed bilateral relations between the two countries. Minister Shahid also congratulated Vice President Wang on the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and reiterated the Maldivian government's support to the One-China Policy. 

The Vice President noted the importance of Maldives as a partner in the Belt and Road initiative of China, while Minister Shahid highlighted the importance of China as a development partner to the Maldives. 

Minister Shahid is on an official visit to China that will last from September 19-20.
