MVR Two million has been paid by the state as compensation to the Magistrate Court of Kulhudhuffushi to be paid to the residents of two houses that were relocated to build the airport in H.Dh Kulhudhuffushi.

Eighteen houses were relocated as part of the Kulhudhuffushi airport project with compensation being paid to all of them. However, owners of two of these residences appealed to the High Court regarding the unsatisfactory compensation they received.

They are Ali Ismail from Daisy villa and Moosa Hassan from Kulavaruge. The High Court had ordered the Magistrate Court of Kulhudhuffushi to review the case again in October of last year following the appeal of the residents.

Compensation for the residents of Daisy villa was awarded in the form of MVR 1.18 million while the residents of Kulavaruge were awarded MVR 955,120.37. The Magistrate Court had stated that the payment would be transferred to the two appellants and that it was now working on the process.
