Council pledges MVR 100,000 grant to Kulhudhuffushi’s public schools

The Kulhudhuffushi City Council has pledged to provide all public schools in the northern Maldivian city with grant assistance of MVR 100,000 each.

The school grant agreements were signed by Mayor Mohamed Athif on Sunday.

According to the city council, the grant assistance will go to the three public schools operating in the city: the HDh. Atoll Education Center, Jalaluddin School, and Afeefuddin School.

The MVR 100,000 grant will go towards financing the initiatives in the proposals submitted by the schools, said the council.

The city council states that it introduced the school grant program to improve the quality of the schools in Kulhudhuffushi, develop resources, and support activities run by the schools for the betterment of students, as well as to acknowledge and support fund raising activities run by parent teacher associations.

The council had provided grants of MVR 50,000 to schools in 2022, and MVR 100,000 since 2024.
