Two people who set out on a canoe from Vilingili yesterday have managed to swim to Hulhumale' after they were caught out by bad weather.
Police had been searching for the pair after they were reported lost during a squall of bad weather around 17:00 yesterday. Police stated that the weather and the current pulled the men out to sea and finally brought them within swimming distance of the Hulhumale' swimming track area around midnight. The two men then managed to swim to safety and reach Hulhumale' around 3:10 and are now doing fine, according to police.
Authorities have advised people to travel with caution due to the bad weather. A family stranded on a picnic island with a 6-month old infant was rescued yesterday.
