Modi: This visit to Maldives will further deepen our bond

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stated that his two-day trip to Maldives will strengthen the bond between the two countries.

In a statement released by Modi’s website states that his trip to Maldives is evidence that both the countries value the relationship they have as maritime neighbors and long-standing friends.

Modi said that India views Maldives as a valued partner with whom they share deep bonds of history and culture.

“Our bilateral relations with the Maldives have been greatly strengthened in the recent past. I am confident that my visit will further deepen our multifaceted partnership,” said Modi in his statement.

PM Modi is to arrive in Maldives during this afternoon. He is to arrive in Sri-Lanka after concluding his trip in Maldives on Sunday.

Foreign Ministry of Maldives has stated that six agreements from five different areas would be signed during this short trip of Modi. The PM will also be addressing the People’s Majlis of Maldives this Saturday.

A special dinner held by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in honor of the PM would be held at Kurumba Maldives on Sunday night.
