India provides aid to build a convention center in Ukulhas

Maldivian Foreign Affairs Ministry states that the Indian government has provided non-reimbursable financial aid to build an international standard convention center in A. A. Ukulhas.

Indian government has granted Maldives with non-reimbursable financial aid of MVR 100 million to run development projects in Maldives. According to the Foreign Ministry, MVR 7.8 million from MVR 100 million will be used to build the convention center in Ukulhas. 

The Ministry noted that the convention center is being built to promote the booming local tourism industry and other economic activities in Ukulhas. They stated that the convention center in Ukulhas will be a suitable place for promoters and businessmen to hold conferences and meetings.

Foreign Ministry also highlighted that the convention center will be designed and built to the standard fit to hold international level conferences and meetings.

The agreement to provide Maldives with non-reimbursable financial aid of MVR 100 million was signed during Indian External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj's official visit to Maldives from March 17-18.
