Nasheed-, Yameen-helmed parties land no seats

Former President Mohamed Nasheed founded The Democrats and candidates endorsed by former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom have not secured any seats on Sunday's parliamentary election.

Although no candidate officially contended through People's National Front (PNF) - Yameen's new political party - the former leader has endorsed a few independent candidates, but none of the managed to win any of their respective seats.

The Democrats contended for 39 seats, but has not managed to secure a single seat for the 20th parliament assembly. A total of 13 members from The Democrats represented the party at the 19th assembly, though they were all originally elected through MDP's ticket.
