The lawmakers elected to Parliament 2019 will rely on the pleadings of the Maldivian people for guidance, says former Maldivian President and Leader of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), Mohamed Nasheed.

Speaking during the launch of MDP’s campaign for the upcoming parliamentary elections, Agenda ’19, at Alimas Carnival last Friday night, Nasheed promised the new Parliament will be different.

Nasheed said the lawmakers of the new Parliament will be lawyers dedicated to representing and protecting the interest of the Maldivian people.

He said the purpose of the new Parliament will be to realize the hopes and dreams of the Maldivian people.

Nasheed said he kept hearing people from across Maldives stressing on the importance of MDP gaining majority of the new Parliament.

“The people are saying this because of everything they have seen. Because of their experience. Because of everything this party has experienced and all the lessons this party has learnt,” said Nasheed.

MDP has created a document of what the party pledges to accomplish through the Parliament, and has opened the document for review of the public.

Nasheed said the MDP’s legislative agenda will be to ensure the successful realization of all of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s pledges.
