Coastguard initiates rescue operation for missing ‘JUMBO’ boat

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF)’s Coastguard has launched a search and rescue operation to locate a boat which has been missing for one week.

MNDF says the Coastguard Maritime Rescue Coordination Center received report of the missing boat at 10:22 am this Sunday.

‘JUMBO’ is a 75-foot boat registered to H. Dh. Kulhudhuffushi but operates in Male’ City.

Last contact with the boat, which left of a fishing trip with 12 men onboard, was at approximately 7 pm on January 20, from L. Atoll.

The 75-foot boat is light grey with a white wheelhouse.

MNDF has asked anyone with information regarding the boat to contact Coastguard on its toll free number 191.
