Engine stops on ferry traveling with 50 people

The ferry coming to the Male' City from Kaafu atoll Maafushi with 50 people, "Handheygiri-2", has had their engine stopped at sea. 

Media Officer of the MNDF, Captain Ibrahim Azim, said that the incident was reported this morning at 9:07 a.m. 

MNDF said that there were 50 people on board the ferry at the time of the incident including ten tourists. A Coast Guard vessel is at the scene and no one on board is injured. 

Another vessel has been sent to the area by the owner of the vessel to tug the ferry to safety. 

MNDF said that they are working to bring the women, children and tourists on board the ferry to Male' City.
