Inmate dies from stroke

An inmate being treated at ADK Hospital following a stroke has passed away. 

Information Officer of the Maldives Correctional Service, Ahmed Lugman told Sun Media that the inmate passed away around 9:40 p.m. tonight. 

He said that the deceased is 37-year-old Hamzath Ahmed Fathuhee (Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo) who was serving 25 years in a drug related crime. 

Lugman said that following the stroke, the inmate was initially brought to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) in critical condition on Thursday night and was transferred to ADK Hospital on Friday. 

This is the fifth inmate to die this year so far.
