Police steps in to stop MDP primaries

Implementing the court order from the Civil Court, Maldives Police Service has stepped in to stop the on going MDP primary election for the up coming Presidential Election. 

MDP said that their primary voting is underway at all inhabited islands in the country along with the neighboring Sri Lanka, India and in Malaysia. 

As the police tries to implement the order from the Civil Court, they are confiscating ballots, ballot boxes and voter lists from the voting locations if they are no complying. 

Speaking at a press conference that followed, Superintendent Ahmed Shifan said that teams of officers have been deployed in the atolls as well to stop the MDP primaries.
