Civil Court has ordered the Maldives Police Service to stop the presidential primary of MDP.

The court issued the order after a temporary order was requested to stop the primary as the MDP primary has the name of the former President, Mohamed Nasheed on ballot.

The Civil Court order said that the Elections Commission filed suit to declare that holding the primary with the inclusion of Mohamed Nasheed (G. Canary) is against the law.

Civil Court ordered MDP not to hold a primary where the former President, Nasheed can participate in. And if the primary moves forward with the involvement of Nasheed, the court has ordered the Maldives Police Service and other relevant institutes to intervene.
