Vice President of PPM, Abdul Raheem Abdulla (Adhurey) has said that the Leader of the Jumhooree Party (JP), Qasim Ibrahim, no longer has a place in Maldivian politics.
Yesterday, Qasim said that he would not step away from his the opposition's reform efforts even if his children are arrested and all his assets are seized by the state.
Speaking at PPM's daily press conference today since the Supreme Court ruling on 1 February, Adhurey said that the Maldivian people will not accept the what is being said by politicians such as Qasim Ibrahim which does not make any sense.
Adhurey said that Qasim has been working to bring the Leader of the PPM Parliamentary Group, Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik and the MP for Kelaa constituency, Ali Arif, to JP and that can never be done even if Qasim sells all that he owns.
He said that JP is not a political party anyone should join for a political career and the party does not carry any political weight.
Indicating to that the opposition coalition is preparing for a mass protest rally on 16 March, Adhurey said that Qasim declaring that he would fund the rally is an admission of his involvement in the conspiracy to overthrow the government.
MP Ali Arif also spoke at the PPM press conference today saying that Jumhooree Party is not a political party and is being run by a business company.
