Three high-profile actors arrested during a special counter-narcotics operation in Villimale’ on October 8th have been released from custody.

The Police arrested four individuals during the operation, including three high-profile actors:

  • Ahmed Azmeel, 44
  • Ismail Jumaih, 35
  • Mohamed Vishal (Roman), 29

The fourth individual arrested was Shahil Mohamed. 42.

Following their arrests, the Criminal Court ordered the four individuals to be remanded in custody for 15 days on October 9th. The remand period was scheduled to expire next Saturday.

However, the Police confirmed on Thursday that the cases involving all four individuals have been forwarded to the Prosecutor General’s Office. With the investigation completed, Azmeel, Jumaih, and Vishal have been released from custody. Authorities added that arrangements to release Shahil are currently underway.

The Police stated that they would comply with any further court orders if an extension of the suspects’ detention is directed.

According to the court orders, evidence had been presented against the suspects, including statements from officers who attended the scene and confirmation from the investigating officer that urine samples taken from the three actors had tested positive for illicit substances.

The Police reported that officers were required to force entry into the room where the suspects were located. Upon entering the room, officers found illicit substances openly kept on a table. All three actors were present in the room at the time.

It was noted that the provisional weight of the narcotics seized from the room meets the legal threshold for drug trafficking charges. The court order also noted that Azmeel and Vishāl have prior criminal records related to detention.
