Police probe unauthorized access to Housing Ministry lockers holding documents

The police have begun investigating a case involving unauthorized access to multiple lockers holding official documents of the Housing Ministry.

According to the police, the case was reported by the Housing Ministry on Friday.

The police said that investigators went to the Housing Ministry at around 07:18 pm Friday, and had the ministry’s staff check the documents under their watch.

The police said they were able to confirm that there was nothing missing from the lockers, document or otherwise.

The police did not say whether they were investigating the case further, or had closed the case.

The Housing Ministry was also not immediately available for comment regarding the specifics of the documents stored in the lockers or any other details regarding the case.

The Housing Ministry has been running out of Dharubaaruge since a fire in 2024 burned down a block of government buildings in Ameenee Magu that housed not just the Housing Ministry, but also two other government ministries as well as several departments of the Male’ City Council.
