Kulhudhuffushi Port incurs MVR 12.3M in losses as payroll alone exceeds MVR 13M

Kulhudhuffushi Port Limited (KPL) spent MVR 13.3 million on salaries alone last year, as it incurred MVR 12.3 million in losses.

The KPL’s 2025 report released by the Auditor General’s Office shows the company generated MVR 11.99 million in revenue from the Kulhudhuffushi Regional Port, along with an additional MVR 1.52 million in rent and other income.

The heaviest spending by KPL was on its payroll, with MVR 13.3 million spent on salaries and allowances – even higher than the MVR 13.1 million in 2024.

The company’s losses also increased, rising from MVR 11.3 million in 2024 to MVR 12.3 million in 2025.

KPL was established via a presidential decree in 2009 to manage the Kulhudhuffushi Regional Port. It is a subsidiary of Maldives Ports Limited (MPL).
