Maldives National Museum to hold its first overseas exhibition in China next year

The Maldives National Museum is set to hold its first overseas exhibition in China next year.

The exhibition is being held under a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Maldivian Ministry of Arts, Culture and Heritage and the National Maritime Museum of China.

The agreement was signed on Friday during Maldivian Heritage Minister Heena Waleed’s visit to China.

Under the agreement, the Maldives National Museum and the National Maritime Museum of China will be holding joint exhibitions under the banner ‘Ancient Chinese Shipbuilding and Navigation Technology, The Maritime Silk Road Connecting China and the Maldives.”

The exhibitions are scheduled to be held early next year in both Male’ and Chinese cities, highlighting the maritime heritage and historical ties between the two countries.

According to the Ministry of Arts, Culture and Heritage, it will mark the first time for an exhibition organized by the Maldives National Museum is held overseas.
