The national airline Maldivian has launched scheduled flights to the Dh. Kudahuvadhoo Airport, which is currently managed by a private airline.

The Male’-Kudahuvadhoo flights were launched by Maldivian on Thursday morning, for a promotion one-way fare of MVR 1,111.

The national airline states that the new route supports the government’s efforts to expand transport between the Maldivian capital and Dh. Atoll.

The airline expects the new service to improve the convenience of people who travel to Male’ for education, healthcare and employment, and to also drive trade and tourism across the Dh. Atoll.

The launch of the Kudahuvadhoo route increases Maldivian’s domestic destinations to 18.

Kudahuvadhoo Airport is operated by Manta Air, which uses the airport as its hub. Manta has not yet commented on any operational changes following Maldivian’s entry into the route.

Manta Air recently reduced its domestic flights, and Maldivian has been operating charter flights to Kudahuvadhoo at Manta’s request. The airport is a key gateway for tourist transfers to major resorts in Dh. Atoll, as well as for travel between the atoll and Male'.
