Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) President and Dh. Meedhoo MP Ahmed Siyam Mohamed has called for respecting the rights of every citizen and working together to uphold democracy.
In an altruistic message shared on social media on the occasion of International Day of Democracy, Siyam said the values of democracy can only be protected when the rights, freedoms and needs of all citizens are honoured. He wrote that democracy is best upheld when honesty, transparency, responsibility and unity are practiced in a participatory manner.
Siyam concluded his message by extending International Democracy Day greetings to the people of Maldives.

International Democracy Day is observed globally on September 15 each year. Maldives is among the youngest democracies in South Asia, having ended decades of autocratic rule and formally transitioned to a multi‑party republic in 2008.
