Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) President and Dh. Meedhoo MP Ahmed Siyam Mohamed has urged citizens to remain vigilant against efforts to create doubt in the hearts of youth and children, the future of the country.
In an address delivered on the occasion of the Islamization of the Maldives, Siyam said that with the intellectual and social changes taking place around the world, the challenges facing Maldives as a 100 percent Muslim nation are increasing. He noted that attempts were being made to instill religious doubts among youth and children, and called on the public to stand united to protect the country and its faith from such dangers.
Siyam said Islam is the foundation of Maldivian nationalism, and that the religion is the basis of the freedom, peace and unity Maldivians enjoy today. He added that the most precious blessing over the past 900 years has been the light of Islam.
He also remembered Abu al‑Barakat Yusuf al‑Barbari of the Maghreb and Sultan Muhammad bin Abdullah (Dharumavantha Rasgefaanu), who embraced Islam and led the nation’s conversion, and offered prayers for them.
Siyam concluded his address by calling on all citizens to work together to preserve the light of Islam in the Maldives and to promote Islamic morality and principles. He also prayed that the Maldives would always remain a united, peaceful, 100 percent Muslim country.
