Police seize nearly 2kg of drugs, 230 vape cartridges in Male'; three suspects arrested

Three people have been arrested in a special operation conducted by police in Male' City.

The operation was carried out by Drug Enforcement and Counter Narcotics Intelligence, and the suspects were arrested on suspicion of possession, use and trafficking of drugs.

Those arrested are:  

• Hussain Shavin (26), Sunny Villa/K. Huraa  

• Maryam Isha Ashraf (21), Villa/Th. Thimarafushi  

• Mohamed Nahil (25), Reysham/S. Hulhudhoo

Police said 1.7 kilograms of suspected drugs were recovered during the operation. Officers also seized 230 vape cartridges, 26 bottles of vape flavour, and one bottle of liquor from the house searched in connection with the case.

After being produced before the court, Hussain Shavin and Maryam Isha Ashraf were remanded for 15 days, while Mohamed Nahil was remanded for five days.

Police said the case is under further investigation.
