Flights at Ifuru Airport have been suspended after the domestic airport was closed on Thursday evening to carry out essential runway maintenance.

According to Maldivian, the airport was closed at 16:00 and will remain shut until 05:00 on Friday, during which all flights to and from Ifuru are suspended. Operations will resume once the maintenance work is completed.

Maldivian apologized for the inconvenience caused and said it is arranging alternative travel options for passengers who were scheduled to fly during the closure. Affected travellers will be contacted directly by the airline.

Passengers seeking assistance have been asked to contact Maldivian’s call centre at 1671.

Ifuru Airport, located in Raa Atoll, opened on May 28, 2015 and is known for being one of the most scenic airports in the northern Maldives.
