Yellow alert for torrential rain from R. Atoll to V. Atoll

The national weather agency has issued a yellow alert for torrential rain for the area from R. Atoll to V. Atoll.

Maldives Meteorological Service forecasts the area will be affected by torrential rain and thunderstorms, with gusts of 40 miles per hour.

Seas are expected to be rough.

The yellow alert was issued for until 04:00 pm Thursday.

The current spell of bad weather is attributed to the intensification of the Hulhangu Monsoon, which is expected to result in rougher, possibly unusually rougher seas, in the coming days.
