Mohamed Afeef, the Managing Director of Fenaka Corporation, which the government has decided to dissolve, was dismissed from his position on Wednesday.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu announced the decision to dissolve Fenaka Corporation Limited and the Road Development Corporation (RDC) during a press conference at the President’s Office on September 7.

Speaking with Sun on Wednesday, Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) President Mohamed Nizar confirmed that Afeef had been removed from his position as Fenaka’s Managing Director, adding that the dismissal was not prompted by any specific reason.

Following Fenaka’s dissolution, its responsibilities are set to be transferred to STELCO. Afeef’s dismissal comes as the process of transferring Fenaka’s operations to STELCO is underway.

Afeef was appointed Managing Director of Fenaka on April 27 this year, becoming the third person appointed to lead the corporation under the current administration. Following the resignation of the first appointee, Muaz Mohamed Rasheed, Mohamed Najah was appointed to the position on December 23, 2024.

Afeef is a veteran public official who has served the state for more than 40 years.
